L R S Higher Ground 171H

L R S Higher Ground 171H

L R S Higher Ground 171H is a bull that shows loads of potential. We purchased Higher Ground at the Lassle Ranch Simmental 2021 sale. He is the son of LRS Top Grade 303A. 171h’s maternal brothers include : LRS Iconic, LRS Top Shelf and LRS Frontline. Sired by GENEX’s Hooks Eagle 6E whose sons are dominant for performance, frame size and muscle proportion, backed by a solid footed, prolific cow family with great fertility and consistency. Higher Ground has the phenotypic style that comes along with Eagle, and the genetic carcass merit that comes from Top Grade. Not to mention he’s a sleep all night heifer bull. His calves should be fun to watch for years to come!

TJ Heisman 388F

Homozygous Black and Homozygous Polled

Pureblood Simmental

An extremely exciting purebred Big Timber son out of a first calf Cowboy Cut heifer that is an outlier in terms of his figures. His bulls have great muscle expression, phenotypic “simmental look” without too much neck leather, or ears. All of his calves are deep ribbed and heavy butted. His heifers are also deep ribbed and carry a moderate frame that we think is an ideal size for our herd. We will be calving his first daughters this spring.

Heisman was a sale highlight of the 2019 Triangle J Bull Sale with his exceptional EPD profile that offers a top 1% API index TI index, Marbling score EPD and Stayability EPD with top 2% Weaning Weight EPD, Maternal Weaning Weight EPD and Maternal Calving Ease EPD, top 3% Yearling Weight EPD combined with a t op 3% Shear Force EPD and Calving Ease EPD and a top 10% Birth Weight EPD.

HOOK`S FRONTLINE 40F

We sampled Hook’s Frontline 40F on our composite heifer crop and some select mature cows. All calves were born unassisted, healthy and vigorous.

Hooks Beacon 56B

We initially picked Beacon for his calving ease and carcass quality, with hopes of a live calf at birth and an average weaned calf with a quality carcass. His calves come early, and know what to do when they hit the ground. His steer calves find the top end of the scale, his bull calves test well, and his heifers are some of the most feminine, pretty heifers we’ve seen. It will be nice to have his calves in the pedigree for years to come!

HA Cowboy Up 5405

Pure-blood Registered Angus

Still ranking in the 2021 “Top 25 Angus Sires” list with 1,209 calves, Cowboy Up progeny have been popular with all who have them. We initially picked HA Cowboy Up 5405 to compliment our clean up bull HA Cowboy Up 8281. We’ve kept using him because his conception on our time AI cows has been phenomenal. Hopefully this translates to his daughters, as we are calving out his first Heifers this year.

H A Cowboy Up 8281 - ready for turnout with cows June 10, 2020

H A Cowboy Up 8281

8281 was our pick of the 2019 Hinman Angus bull sale. His sire is HA Cowboy Up 5405, and his dam is a Connealy Consensus 7229 X HA Image Maker 0415, 5 year old cow. His dam, grand dam, and great grand dam are all Pathfinders. Balanced trait, high performance, and nine pathfinders in pedigree. 8281 is flawlessly footed, easy keeping, and his heifers are some of the most feminine our cows have ever produced. We’re so happy with his explosive growth, fertility and correct feet. As a yearling, he bred 19 cows in 10 days coming off a synchronization, then cleaned up a the remainder cows. As a two year old, after a brutal winter, he passed a fertility test, swimmingly, cleaned up 50 head of AI cows then went on to produce, in excess, at stud . Just like the cows, our bulls get no special pampering! Sadly, 8281 suffered a hip/leg injury spring 2021. His natural service days are done, but we are still using him in our AI projects.
